Nicely pocket worn key marked SSE RR for the South Shore Elevated Railroad. All letters are still legible with the E showing more wear. This straight bit was the common switch cut. Back side has the A&W oval logo, and big S for switch. The SSE was the first elevated transit line in Chicago. Line ran from Chicago to Jackson Park. Also having branches running to Englewood, Kenwood and the Union Stock Yards. Opened June 6th, 1892 consisting of 10.7 miles. Since having the A&W oval logo dating this key around 1900 to 1920. A piece of older Chicago railroad memorabilia.
